You May Also Like transforms algorithmically generated images into a consumable object. The work is based on digital collages from Algorithm Diary, created by recombining personalized advertisements collected from Instagram.
These advertisements are generated using users’ online histories and personal data, encouraging passive consumption. By reworking these images into physical products, the artist reverses their original function and asserts authorship over imagery designed for commercial influence.
Presented in the familiar format of online recommendations, You May Also Like playfully exposes and subverts the logic of algorithmic consumption while questioning how desire, choice, and value are shaped within digital platforms.
