Tied Up (2024)

Digital print on Charmeuse fabric

500 x 0.05 x 0.05 m,  Dimensions variable

Tied Up is an installation that explores a shift from passive consumption to active engagement with digital images. Using personalized advertisements collected from a single user’s activity on an algorithm-based platform, the images are printed on fabric and transformed into a long, braided strap that extends throughout the exhibition space.

Installed to encircle the room, the work contrasts the fleeting nature of images encountered through social media feeds with a slow, tactile process of cutting, sewing, and braiding. Thousands of images are repeatedly handled and reworked, emphasizing labor, repetition, and physical presence.

By translating smooth digital surfaces into a material form, Tied Up highlights the tension between ephemerality and permanence. The work invites viewers to reflect on their relationship with digital imagery and to consider agency within a media-saturated environment.
